Accutane is a form of vitamin A. It reduces the amount of oil released by oil glands in your skin, and helps your skin renew itself more quickly.

Accutane is used to treat severe nodular acne. It is usually given after other acne medicines or antibiotics have been tried without successful treatment of symptoms. Exactly how Accutane works on a cellular level is unknown, but we do know that it affects all of the four ways that acne develops.

Accutane can cause severe, life-threatening birth defects if the mother takes the medication during pregnancy. Even one dose of Accutane can cause major birth defects of the baby's ears, eyes, face, skull, heart, and brain.

Accutane is available only under a special program called iPLEDGE. You must be registered in the program and sign agreements to use birth control and undergo pregnancy testing as required by the program. Read all program brochures and agreements carefully.

It is dangerous to try and purchase Accutane on the Internet or from vendors outside of the United States. The sale and distribution of Accutane outside of the iPLEDGE program violates the regulations of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the safe use of this medication.

You must have a negative pregnancy test 30 days before you start taking Accutane. A pregnancy test is also required before each prescription is refilled, right after you take your last dose of Accutane, and again 30 days later. All pregnancy testing is required by the iPLEDGE program.

So I just started my 12th month on claravis and it has been a journey. It took about 6 months and quite a few dosage changes before I really started to see any progress in my skin. My only real noticeable side effect was the dryness in my face, and then as summer came and the duration continued the rest of my body became a little dryer. But nothing slathering on lotion couldn't alleviate.

I have been on Accutane nearly 5 months. I started on 30mg and increased t 60mg after a month. I had severe acne on my face and back for many years and had tried all the treatments physically affordable. My acne has improved significantly and my skin is mainly clear. The road to begin with was very rocky and it took time to see results

Worked great, until 6 months after I stopped, I started breaking out again but no where near as bad. I don't want to take it again because it's very expensive, monthly doctor visits and blood work, and just everything you have to go through is annoying but I'm glad I took it the first time because it works just not worth the hassle to do it again
